Luise Horrocks

Singing teacher and vocal coach

Her extensive private practice now focuses on teaching adult singers and those from Intermediate to diploma and professional level. She works both face-to-face and online, with every session tailor made to adapt to each singer's requirements. She aims to cover the technical and the expressive aspects of singing, building confidence and enjoyment in freeing the imagination through performing.

She continues with her own professional development, always broadening the scope of her knowledge, recently starting work with those seeking to improve and develop their speaking voices. She has also qualified as a Vocal First Aider.

Teaching has always been an integral part of Luise’s career and she has taught singers from beginners to professionals. She has successfully prepared students for Choral Scholarships, Music College and University entrance, other auditions and for practical singing examinations of all levels. She has taught in both the Junior and Senior departments at the Birmingham Conservatoire and as a visiting lecturer at Birmingham University. She has also worked with students in the USA and Singapore and been the resident vocal coach with the Presteigne Festival Chorus and at the Hereford and Shrewsbury International Summer Schools. She is currently teaching the singers in the choir of Keble College,  Oxford.

Luise is an inspirational singing teacher and a lesson is therapy in its own right. Lessons combine techniques such as singing posture and how to fit in that tricky high note in a phrase, interpretation combined with sensitive piano accompaniment and an extensive knowledge of all forms of repertoire. I always leave a lesson full of enthusiasm and with lots of ideas and points to work on.

Tim, Worcester

My lessons online with Luise have continued to be not only a delight, always leaving me encouraged at the end of a session, but also helpful in improving technique and extending repertoire. Her perceptiveness seems to be undiminished by teaching online and I do very much appreciate her knowledge and experience, which she shares so willingly.

Hilda, Yorkshire

Luise has always been a great communicator and resourceful in solving vocal and musical problems. She is a lively, positive and sympathetic teacher and I have always finished a lesson with a smile on my face.

Innovation of warm up exercises, 10/10; technique 10/10; sensitivity and interpretation 10/10.  I love her!
